Shockingly enough, since I last posted in 2018 we have actually finished the kitchen
(read: 99%)
I am still going to post about finishing the kitchen in the phase process because I think it is important to realize that when you DIY not everything gets done at once (at least not in our house)
SO HERE WE GO! But first, let us not forget how far we have come in 4 years :)

The day the counters left my kitchen was a day I will never forget. It was honestly one of the happiest days of my life and the three days we made due without really helped me to empathize with my clients who have to wait WEEKS sometimes for theirs.
Chris and I wanted a marble look without the marble price tag or maintenance so we knew quartz would be to the way to go. Fortunately, I had enough samples at work to show Chris my favorite three. We decided that we liked the look of LG London Sky the best because it has warm tones as well as cool, it is quite versatile.

Before pulling the trigger on the counter though, I wanted to pick the backsplash at the same time. I showed Chris the backsplash that I had loved for over a year and while he was a little hesitant on it, he trusted my eye and we went with it (thankfully he loves it)

We removed the old counters over the weekend (as you saw in the previous post) and the following week had the new counters installed

Installers drilling the grommet for the airswitch

WOOHOO!!
Later in the week Dad came out to help install the sink and faucet.
Since our sink cabinet wasn't configured for a farm sink, we had to adjust the entire front of the cabinet.

We started with removing the top rail, middle rail, and center stile that was between the two false drawer heads. We then measured for the sink and then scored & cut the stiles so that the sink would fit between. Because this sink is designed to sit on the countertop, we didn't need to install any additional support to the cabinet for the sink support.

We set the sink in place (only scratching the airswitch once!) and installed the faucet then disposal. We needed to wait to cauLk the countertop in place because we knew we wanted the backsplash to go behind the sink and unfortunately it would be a bit of time before we were able to get that portion of the project completed.

NEXT! Painting and doors. That was a doozy of a month and half.... Stay tuned!
